The residential tenancies regulations 2021 state that all residential rental properties must have the following:
Smoke Alarm maintenance ensuring correct location, correct operation, and a check that alarms are not expired every year. Electrical Safety Check to Australian Standard AS/NZS3019 Section 4 every two years
Gas Safety Check every 2 years
In addition, Consumer Affairs Victoria have published minimum rental standards that define 14 key standards that overlap with the residential tenancies regulations.
