Working Smoke Alarms
Working Smoke Alarms require as a minimum the following to be conducted annually:
- Confirm the smoke alarms are located as required by the current Victorian Building Authority Practice Note
- The smoke alarms are not more than 10 years old
- The alarms are clean and free of debris
- The battery has been replaced. All smoke alarms operate on a battery, even mains power connected smoke alarms
- Test the smoke alarm sensor triggers when exposed to test smoke
- Verify the audible signal meets the Australian Standard AS/NZS3786
